Hunter × Hunter New Release: What’s Actually Coming & When

For years, Hunter × Hunter fans have lived in a cycle of hype, hiatus, and hope. Yoshihiro Togashi’s masterpiece has continued to inspire, surprise, and frustrate us—especially when it comes to new releases. Let’s sort out what is actually confirmed, what’s in development, and what you shouldn’t believe unless it’s officially announced.

Manga status

The manga came back briefly in late 2024 with a run of chapters that culminated in Chapter 410 (December 8, 2024). Viz’s official chapter archive is the best place to confirm chapter release dates and read the most recent official drops. After that run the manga entered another pause. That’s been the pattern for years: Togashi works in bursts, publishes a block of chapters, then pauses to recover or prepare more material. What’s important and encouraging is that Togashi posted that background specs for Chapter 413 are completed, that’s concrete production work and suggests he’s progressing on future chapters even if an immediate publication date hasn’t been set. Keep in mind “background designation complete” is a production milestone, not a release date it means a piece of the creative pipeline is moving.

A big, immediate “new release” fans can actually play

If you want something new and official right now, the fighting game HUNTER×HUNTER: NEN×IMPACT is the nearest thing to a bona fide new release. The developer and publishers confirmed a July 17, 2025 global release for PS5, Switch and PC (Steam). Crunchyroll’s games coverage and the game’s official site provide the release window and details on gameplay modes.

Note: the game previously ran into regulatory trouble (Australia refused classification over content concerns), so availability may vary by country, something to be aware of if you live in regions with strict game classification boards.

Anime

Short answer it is still not confirmed. Fan sites and rumor-chasers have been speculating about an anime comeback there’s been chatter about possible news at events like Anime Japan 2025 but as of the latest reliable reporting there’s been no official announcement from a studio or broadcaster confirming a new TV season or reboot. Use caution with “anime announcements” you see on social feeds unless they link to official studio or network statements.

Historically, anime producers wait until there’s a stable run of source material to adapt given Togashi’s erratic release pattern, studios may be reluctant to commit to a long TV run until there’s more manga content in the tank.

Rumors vs. facts — how to avoid being misled

  • Don’t treat fan speculation or unverified social posts as official. Even some well-meaning outlets will run speculation about an anime reboot based on convention panels or loose comments. Wait for announcements from studio producers, NTV/Shueisha, Viz or Togashi himself.
  • “Togashi working on backgrounds” = progress, but not an imminent chapter drop. Production milestones are encouraging, but publishers control release scheduling.

How to follow official updates

  • Viz/Shonen Jump (official chapter archive & release notices).
  • Official HUNTER×HUNTER: NEN×IMPACT site for game news and release info.
  • Major anime news outlets (Crunchyroll News, Anime News Network, Screen Rant) for verified reporting.

So, If you want a tangible new experience right now, try the game or preorder Vol. 38 — and keep an eye on official channels for the next chapter announcements.
